The article deals with the topic of a job change in people over 50 years of age. Support employment of these people is one of the Strategic Framework of Employment Policy goals in the Czech Republic until 2030.
Furthermore, it represents a part of the Strategy of Social Inclusion, which combines employment with the topic of poverty and social exclusion. The authors conducted research, which also included an analysis of existing research focused on people of pre-retirement age in the Czech labour market.
The research results confirmed that people over 50 rely on friends and acquaintances' recommendations during their looking for a new job. The paper presents the survey results conducted by a quantitative questionnaire survey of 80 respondents over the age of 50 who changed jobs last year.
In the previous job, respondents worked in small companies, as in medium and large companies. Of the organisations where respondents worked newly, 54% were private for-profit, 43% state and 3% in non-profit organisations.
The research aimed to find the main reasons for the change in employment in this age group.
