Abstrakt
Zoos differ form other tourist attractions in that it is necessary to take care of animals every day. In this respect, the must still be in operation even when there are no visitors.
In addition, the have long been the Czech Republic's most visited paid touris and leisure attractions. The year 2019 saw record high attendances at Czech zoos.
The year 2020 is also indelibly written in history, as never before have all zoos been inaccessible to the public for so long: as part of measures against the spread of COVID-19 they were closed for almost a thrid of the year. This was matched by unprecedent declines in attendances and revenues.
On the other hand, it was a year that introduced many new exhibits and ended with a record-high summer holidays' attendance expecially the July one.
