This article proposes to consider meta-subject approach as a methodological model for teaching Russian as a foreign (second or third) language outside a Russian language speaking environment. The author believes that meta-subject approach to teaching foreign languages would be able to not only enhance interest in Russian language, but also to open new aspects of its competitiveness when selecting a foreign language for studying in a foreign language environment.
