Abstract

This study aims to describe the educational trajectories of Afghan women by conducting a secondary data analysis. The primary data we analyzed consisted of focus groups (n=20) from 67 female participants in five Afghan provinces (Liamputtong, 2007).

We approached the primary data with the following research question: How can the educational trajectories of Afghan women be expanded and reinforced? The data was analyzed using Attride-Stirling's thematic networks analytic process (2001) which resulted in the following classification: global themes (n=2), organizational themes (n=4), and basic themes (n=6). The analyzed data revealed a strong interlinkage between educational aspirations and institutional experience of the female participants.
