Abstract

The article examines the axiological aspect of the use of phraseological units and paremias in the speech of a political leader, contributing to the formation of his image in the public space. Three axiological dyads (((work / idleness}}; ((truth / falsehood}}; ((sincerity / hypocrisy}}) are highlighted and the mechanisms of modeling the speech portrait of a politician based on the dichotomy ((friend and foe}} are shown.

In political discourse, the meaning of phraseological units and paremias can be complicated by additional connotations depending on the speaker's communication strategy.
