Wild boar ( Sus scrofa L.) in the Czech lands from the point of view of hunting statistics

Publication at Faculty of Education |

Abstract

The population of wild boar ( Sus scrofa L.) in the countryside of the Czech Republic has been steadily increasing for 70 years. The only comparable concrete data are provided by available old and more recent catch statistics.

Disputes about the damage caused bywild boar are endless, and the dynamics of the species' expansion are still not properly explained. The authors therefore present the available catch statistics as the only available data on which to base the growth of the population after 1950.
