Abstract

Workshop during the 26th DHST congress in Prague. The symposium asks questions regarding Jewish destinies after WW2 and in the form of a probe into human fates and changes in the structure of universities and scientific institutions not only of the occupied European countries, it reflects on this topic.

Thousands of Jewish descent belonged to the scientific community of endangered countries. The fate of industry leaders, team heads and institutions heads has long been in the focus of historiography.

However what impact did migration have to the regular members of the scientific teams? What had changed after arrival of immigrants from endangered and occupied countries at universities and in scientific teams and institutions of the "safe" countries? How did the survivors from abroad and from camps return to their original home scientific institutions and universities?
