Abstrakt
This article presents multiple portrayals from literary cultures of the mocking and passion of Jesus, ranging from, inter alia, The Dream of the Rood and Piers Plowman to King Richard II, Don Quixote, "Bartleby, the Scrivener", The Trial, Mrs. Dalloway, and Wise Blood, down to the late twentieth century with Gore Vidal's Messiah to Norman Mailer's The Gospel According to the Son.
