The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus which broke out in Europe at the beginning of 2020, has led to the most extensive restriction of free movement of persons in the history of European integration. Such a massive restriction of free movement of EU citizens in order to manage the pandemic calls for intensive coordination of the Member States in the EU.
The coordination is necessary in order to protect rights of individuals and their legal certainty. The Article therefore focuses on the question whether the coordination is sufficient.
In connection with this issue, the authors also analyse and evaluate relevant provisions of EU law and Union competences.
