Abstract

In November 2021, František Listopad would live to be a hundred years old. He was a Czech poet and a Czech-Portuguese writer.

He became famous as a film and theater director, journalist and also an essayist. In 1947, František Listopad left for Paris as a correspondent for the Young Front and later became the editor-in-chief of the French-language magazine Parellèle 50.

When the communist coup took place in 1948, November decided to stay in France. In 1958 he moved to Portugal.

He expressed himself artistically in various forms in several languages, but he did not stop writing in Czech and being in exile remained an essential theme of his work. The lecture deals mainly with his Czech and Portuguese essay writing.
