Abstract
The web application Akalex offers information about the vocabulary of academic Czech. Its main goal is to provide users with a list of approximately 1,000 academic words and multi-word units in Czech; similar lists for exist for other languages, especially English.
The AKALEX list can be used as an aid for teaching or writing academic texts, such as student theses or articles. It is also intended for university students for whom Czech is not a mother tongue.
The second part of the application consists of a much larger database of n-grams to some degree typical for academic texts. The database is designed to assist in researching academic vocabulary (including multi-word units) in Czech.
