Publication |
2021

Abstract

This article introduces Laclau's political theory of empty and floating signifiers as they relate to and develop from theology: specifically, negative theology, Eckhart, Dionysius Aeropagite, the doctrine of incarnation, trinitarianism (perichoresis), and Jewish mysticism (tzimtzum). It discusses Laclau's understanding of enumeration, equivalence, and algorithms as they relate to and develop from the works of Hegel, Marx, Gödel, and Freud.
