In this collective monograph, young academics from the universities of Leipzig and Prague deal with the Prague-born author Hans Natonek, one of the great almost unknown feuilletonists and novelists of the Weimar Republic. The focus is on his posthumously published novel Die Straße des Verrats,(The Road of Betrayal) and his journalistic works.
His texts are examined from the perspectives of narrative theory, biography, psychology and linguistics. Furthermore, the loss of the homeland, Anti-Semitism and writing in exile play a role.
