This text deals with the issue of media training and media education in the context of the current development of the media and society as such, which is significantly affected by a new determinant, namely the epidemiological situation related to a disease called COVID-19. The original claims of Mark Deuze, Jussi Parrika and Winfried Schulz about the heteronomy or societal dependence on the media, which could until recently be considered at least as venturesome and whose visionary dimension cannot be denied, quickly and unexpectedly became a reflection of the everyday reality of the living and social worlds due to the external circumstances with which society had to start cope with.
Social expectations from media training and media education have also shifted. These educational directions should ideally respond to the current situation and strengthen their position in the field of orientation providers in the expanding mediatic system.
