The Symeon of Beth Arsham's Letter about the martyrs of Najran is an important historical source for the study of the history of Christianity in pre-Islamic southern Arabia in the 6th century. Its Czech translation is based on a Syrian manuscript discovered and published by Irfan Shahîd in the 1960s, taking into account the Karshun version of the Letter.
The introductory study provides a brief historical framework of the Letter and the basic characteristics of its Syrian manuscript. The Czech translation is accompanied by commentary notes of a linguistic, historical, and theological nature.
