Joseph Stepling (1716-1778) was an important Jesuit experimental physicist performing in Prague during the reign of Maria Theresa and this study presents his work by means of his observations of astronomical events and physical problems as its main source. Furthermore, it discusses his influence on the foundation of the astronomical and meteorological observatory in the Klementinum and his contact with Vienna and with the Royal Society in London.
Finally, the study interprets his article on the trajectories of a thrown body and introduces a Czech translation of this work.
