In 2021, we commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of František Listopad, a Czech writer, poet, literary and film critic, director and pedagogue. Jiří Synek has been in hiding since 1941, as he was a participant in the domestic resistance in the group "For Freedom".
After the war, he managed the cultural section of the Young Front, which he co-founded. In 1947 he was sent as editor of Parallèle 50 to Paris and remained there for several years.
In the 1960s, he moved to Portugal, where he lived and worked under the name Jorge Listopad for the rest of his life. After 1989, he regularly returned to the Czech Republic.
In the collective monograph, we recall his legacy and point out some little-known facts.
