The exhibition Sent to the North briefly presents the facts and circumstances of this part of the history of the Second World War years, in which Czech and Norwegian history met and intertwined, and which has undoubtedly become an important element of Czech-Norwegian relations. The exhibition includes a factual part, which mainly presents basic data and various contemporary materials documenting the life of forced labourers in Norway, as well as their journey from the Protectorate to Norway and their post-war fate.
The second part of the exhibition is a collection of photographic portraits of the descendants of the forced labourers. It was the collaboration with the descendants that brought a new dimension to the research on the whole topic, when, in addition to providing unique materials kept in family heirlooms, it was possible to trace the reflection that forced labour deployment in Norway and the wartime in general left in family memory across one or more generations.
