Abstract
The paper briefly introduces selected examples of Czech language and literature teaching in the eastern part of the USA, in Czech compatriot schools and universities (Yale University, Chicago). It provides the historical and cultural context, conditions and current state of teaching and focuses on the work of two important personalities.
