Abstrakt
The article presents the founder of German Studies at the Czech University of Prague Václav Emanuel Mourek and focuses on his work in German-Czech, English-Czech and Czech-English lexicography. Mourek's lexicographical activity was connected with the practice-oriented goals and plans of foreign language teaching and with the popularization and propagation of the two Germanic languages - German and English - among the Czech public.
