Abstract
The life of Evžen Neustupný, with whom we recently said goodbye (he died on January 14, 2021), has undergone several unexpected twists and turns, which will one day undoubtedly be worth the attention of historians in the field. However, his work is remarkable for the opposite reason, as it is extremely innovative, but at the same time extremely comprehensive and logically evolving from the first to the last works.
The relentless texts are austere but perfectly thought out and place high demands on the reader. Readers sometimes did not understand or did not want to understand them, at least in that "damned aviary" (in the words of Jaroslav Seifert) of communist Czechoslovakia, which allowed the Neustadné to survive, but for most of his life did not give him the opportunity to fly into the world to which he belonged.
