In modern political communication, the emotional and expressive aspects of a politician's speech play an increasingly important role, due to which its pragmatic effect is enhanced. Politicians not only use new genres and channels of communication (social networks, blogs, streaming services, etc.), but also use a variety of expressive means, including stylistically reduced ones (vernacular, slang, slang).

A special place in the speech of modern politicians is occupied by phraseological units that most clearly reflect the national and cultural characteristics of native speakers, and also have a unique imagery and expressiveness. Politicians use phraseological units not only in their usual form, but also actively "play" with their form and content, changing phraseological units in accordance with the chosen communicative strategy.
