This article traces the development of poetry of Otokar Březina (1868-1929). Březina had gone through a complicated and radical development in terms of ideas, art and psychology, leading from the decadent cult of art of his Mysterious Distances (1892-1895) to the vitality of creative processes and the myth of life of his last completed collection of poetry Hands.
Life as such became the protagonist of Březina's creative drama: at that time his artistic production was an integral part of life's work of art or the work of art of life. The culmination of the process of the spiritualisation of the whole universe is the redeemed "spiritual Man" and "spiritual land", the spiritualisation of vital principle under the conditions of a "reconciled world".
