Abstract
The rationale of this paper is to trace the post-communist reemergence of Poland as a modern nation-state, with a special focus on the national imaginaries produced thereof, and the repercussions in the images of "signifi cant Others" this entailed, and to off er a conclusion about what important lessons for Ukraine should be drawn from that.
