The aim of the paper is to map the opinions of teachers on the education of exceptionally gifted students in Czech schools. The research questions were: How do teachers imagine a gifted child? What obstacles do primary school teachers see in educating gifted students? A questionnaire survey was used as a research tool, which was attended by 60 respondents from the Czech Republic.
The key question was to find out what conception of giftedness teachers prefer. Metaphors analysis was used for this finding, which was inspired by the article The Gifted Pupil is like Jágr among hockey players or the teacher's concept of giftedness in metaphor analysis (Machů, 2019).
Interestingly, I also present the results of a free interview with a group of exceptionally gifted students who commented on what they think it means to be gifted.
