Abstract

While the entire Europe was deeply affected by the French Revolution, Napoleonic Wars and the Congress of Vienna, the consequential liberal Revolutions of 1948 in the Austrian Empire broke out and marked the end of status quo within the 53 years time frame set for this conference. Conservatism from monarchy rule, and the way of life were seriously challenged by waves of ideology inspired since the Age of Enlightenment.

Amidts such historical background, Brno witnessed marked economical growth and prosperity after the establishment of the first textile factory in 1763, extended by Austria Empire's relatively stable economy under the Metternich era. Architecture, as a crystallization of culture in the most prominent materialistic form, recorded the reality of both the power of the rulers and the heritage of everyday livelihood of citizens in the now second largest city of modern Czech Republic.
