Thufur - an exotic jewel of inanimate nature of the Hrubý Jeseník Mts

Abstract

The paper deals with the thufur in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. It describes their distribution and morphology and compares them with similar landforms in Scandinavia.

It explains how these landforms, which usually occur in the suppolar and polar regions, can occur in the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. and compares the microclimatic conditions of its selected localities. The paper summarizes the importance of these climatically controled landforms in our mountains and discusses management activities in the Jeseníky Protected Landscape Area that are important for their protection and conservation in our landscape.
