The aim of the paper is neither to analyse performing of conversion by early modern literature nor to analyse its confessional meanings or its potential to articulate confessional statements. The aim of the paper is to analyse the fact the literature was "converted" in confessional ways by its re-interpretation.
It became an instrument of confessionalisation, it co-shaped a confessional identity and it made a confessional self-presentation possible. In my paprer, the confessionality of literature is considered as an interpretative category and the conversion as an act of re-interpretation.
We present some cases of the confessionalisation of the Czech literature beyond the "conffesional period", i.e. in the 19th and the 20th centuries.
