The publication deals with one of the most unique and most remarkable folk art expressions in Slovakia. Richly decorated and shaped stone tombstones and wooden tombstones for marking the graves of their deceased were made by the Evangelicals (protestants) only in a few villages in the northwest of Novohrad approximately in the years 1870 - 1920.
We do not find this form of folk tombstones anywhere else in Slovakia in this form. Stone tombstones are a real stone database of signs and symbols used in the folk environment in space and the period of their origin.
It is possible to understand them as a material source for knowing space at a specific time. They are a statement about time, space and the people living in it.
They are a statement about the Novohrad hills at the junction of Hont, Novohrad and Podpoľanie.
