Abstrakt
The presentation explains the concept of translation (and its categories of text type) and the translator, the study field of Translation Studies and the important translators of the history of the Latin American conquest (Malinche, Felipillo). It also presents some theoretical concepts of translation (cultureme, polysystem theory, translation as communication) addressing selected theoretics in the field (Jiří Levý, Anton Popovič, Andrew Chesterman).
Finally, it makes a reflection on the work and responsibilities of the literary translator.
