The study presents the influence of synoptic situations on the concentration of ambient air pollutants (SO2, NO2, PM10, CO, O3) in the largest city of northern Bohemia - Liberec. This paper identifies five synoptic situations which can significantly increase concentration of air pollutants.
Moreover, five synoptic situations in which the pollutant concentrations are significantly lower than the long-term average are also described. This study contributes to prediction of air pollution in a big city based on the prediction of the synoptic situation, and thus to protection of human health.
