Abstract

This article provides an insight into selected results of the research project "Kids' Digital Lives in COVID-19 Times" (KiDiCoTi), which was carried out in 11 (study a) and 14 (study b) European countries. It shows the situation of families and children and their media usage during the first Covid-19 lockdown in spring and early summer 2020.

Two sub-studies are considered: (a) an international comparative representative survey of adolescents aged ten to 18 and their parents and (b) an international comparative qualitative survey of families with children aged six to ten. This article focuses on the results of dealing with digital technologies in the context of remote schooling and primarily highlights results from Austria, but also draws comparisons to international results from the KiDiCoTi project.
