The main goal of the paper is to familiarize the professional public with the results of research that examines the educational reality of school facilities for institutional care. We focused on the area of talent and dual exceptionality.
A qualitative research design based on a combination of observations, interviews and case studies was used. The results of the research point to the fact that gifted children in a children's home show signs typical of a dual exceptionality.
In the discussion, we will outline the possibilities of adapting the conditions in education for our children and emphasize the need for quality diagnostics. Our findings could lead to improved work with exceptionally gifted children, not only in the environment of children's homes.
