The aim of the exploratory study on internet (online) journalism was to describe the new communication phenomenon of online media, its proliferation and its impact on journalism, on journalists, and in particular on the education of journalists. The study is a part of a wider research project "Journalism in Information Society: Digitalization of Journalism Going Internet".
The study shall serve the purpose of future exploration of online journalism, which shall result in proposals for change in the curriculum at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism, Charles University, and in publishing a handbook for the journalists working in a digital online environment. After the introduction into the theme, and after the basic survey of the subject matter, three chapters of the study focus on producers of the online media, on their manifold multimedia online products, and on analysis of relations between the traditional (print, broadcast) and new (internet, online) media.
