16 ELC 54 epicardial fractally coated screw-in leads were studied over a period of one year. The ELC 54 leads exhibited markedly lower pacing thresholds than the non-fractal screw-in epicardial leads.
Pacing thresholds in the ELC 54 were higher than those in endocardial ones, as expected, maintaining their maximum still in the third month after implant. A low impedance observed in ELC 54 seems to be a drawback because it increases the current drain of a pacemaker.
