Abstract
In their introductory article, the authors deal with Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code, as in 2022 the legal community (and not only it) commemorates ten years since its adoption. The historical context of the adoption of the Civil Code in question is presented, European standards of private law regulation are mentioned, including legislative achievements in the global context.
The authors also focus on the definition of the relationship between the Civil Code and commercial law, the connection with consumer law, the language of the Civil Code, the question of autonomy of will and the systematics of the Civil Code.
