The publication provides a detailed account of sixty auxiliary nouns and associated noun devices, which are one of the core tools of Japanese grammar. Over 250 constructions containing the nouns in question are included, which are arranged according to their internal structure into four categories, clearly structuring the individual entries.
Each construction is described formally, semantically and stylistically, and information on typical collocates is also included. The constructions are supported by a sufficient number of idiomatic example sentences and, where appropriate, are accompanied by comparisons with semantically or formally similar devices.
