Brčko District is unique in Bosnia and Herzegovina in applying consistently in all of its official language policies the equality principle of language(s) and script(s). This paper draws on critical ethnographic approach and examines the educational context by means of a comprehensive and deeply contextualized research.
Even though the creation of Brčko model was initially guided by language-as-right orientation (along the lines of Ruiz 1984), language-as-resource, as well as language-as-problem orientation can also be identified in practice (for instance in language curricula inspired by the dominant language ideologies or in students' attitudes).
