The artical deals with the process of shared care in a family with disabled child. Briefly explains formal and informal care, the role of parents and the multidisciplinary approach of professional care with the aim of supporting children with disabilities to the maximum possible degree of self-sufficiency and increasing the quality of life of the whole family.
Caring for children with disabilities is a long-term health-social, educational process that should reflect their current needs. The occupational therapist's approach in practice, his professional knowledge and skills are key from the point of view of health rehabilitation, but also educational competences, which OT applies in his practice.
