Abstract

The present paper deals with the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the communication skills of primary school students with special reference to second grade students. The development of communication skills is an integral, perhaps crucial, part of primary school education, not only in the Czech language or foreign languages, but also in other subjects where it is necessary to actively communicate, present or defend one's ideas and opinions.

In order for pupils' communication skills to be effectively practised and subsequently applied in specifically targeted outcomes, it is necessary to provide appropriate conditions. However, in the second half of the 2019/2020 school year, there has been a general closure of educational institutions and a subsequent move to online learning.

Schools, teachers and pupils had to adapt to this unexpected situation, followed by parents. The survey is directed primarily at teachers and their views on the resulting changes in communication and expressive skills of pupils in the second cycle of primary schools.
