The presented paper offers an insight into the topic of a competition in labour relations through an analysis of the plurality of basic employment relations of the employee and the conditions for their functioning. For the purposes of detailed examination, this plurality is distinguished as the so-called internal plurality, i.e. as competition of several basic employment relations within one employer, and the so-called external plurality, i.e. the existence of several basic employment relations of one employee with different employers.
The internal plurality is analysed in the paper in connection with the employment of the academic staff member to the university. External plurality is assessed in relation to the service of members of the security forces and the service of professional soldiers.
