In this talk, the underlying ontology of toponomastic data and approaches for a corresponding implementation in data structures was elaborated. The goals were to maximize the systematicity and uniformity of the data, to integrate linguistic analyses and other distinguishing features and especially to ensure good transferability after completion of the respective project.
The focus lay on the treatment of attested name forms and their subdivision into constituent morphological objects. In conclusion, the practicalities in opposition to meeting the stated goals were discussed.
