Czech Version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS)

Publication

Abstract

The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) is a five-item self-report instrument for measuring life satisfac-tion, which is the cognitive component of subjective well-being (Diener, 1984). Since its introduction by Diener et al. in 1985, the SWLS has been translated to more than 30 languages.

This Czech-language adaptation was translated from the original English version using the TRAPD approach. Validation of the Czech Version SWLS is based on a representative sample of Czech people and confirms its very good psychometric properties.

The SWLS is applicable in a variety of research disciplines, including sociology, and psychology.
