Last year saw the publication of Stefan Litt's Jüdische Fürsprache: Quellen aus Gemeindeprotokollbüchern (pinkasim) des aschkenasischen Kulturraums 1586-1808, which is dedicated to the topic of early modern Jewish self-government. This book brings together source material on the activities of shtadlanim (i.e., Jewish community emissaries who negotiated primarily with the manorial authorities) in Jewish communities.
