The PorTex (Text Comprehension) test battery was prepared in the project of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic entitled Key Literacy Skills for Primary School Pupils. Although it is primarily aimed at understanding texts through new comprehension tests (listening comprehension, reading comprehension aloud, reading comprehension silently), it can be described as comprehensive.
It includes all important areas that enter into the development of literacy skills (phonology, language awareness, complex reading, self-assessment of reading, environmental influences) and which should be assessed in case of reading difficulties of 1st grade pupils. Primary schools and the search for appropriate intervention measures to alleviate difficulties.
In the paper, the theoretical starting points and the process of standardization of the test battery were presented, and we also addressed the possibilities of its use in school and counseling practice.
