Abstract
The study focused on the use of the Latin adjective "sanctus" in the context of the Old English lexical field of BEING HOLY, i.e. it looked at in which contexts this Latin adjective is preferred in opposition to the original Old English adjectives "halig, gebletsod, gehalgod and gesælig". At the same time, it also attempted to see to what extent the word is integrated morphologically in the texts, i.e. whether it is inflected in Latin or Old English.
