Abstract

The publication (2nd revised edition) Environmental activities in preschool education is a didactic material for preschool teachers and is divided into three parts. In the theoretical part, an innovative concept of environmental education is presented, including model expected outcomes. At the beginning of the text, the reasons for the inclusion of environmental education and education for sustainable development in the framework education programmes are explained in a brief and comprehensible way. The emphasis is on making the reader aware of the importance of the environment in which the children's activities take place, especially the school garden.

In the methodological section, general methodological notes and emphases are set out, and recommendations for developing or adapting the curriculum are mentioned. The author discusses the evaluation of quality and effectiveness and offers a self-evaluation questionnaire to assess the quality of ECEC in the nursery school. The practical part offers a number of ideas for small activities, projects, nature walks, nature trails and thematic integrated blocks. Teachers will find various ideas and suggestions (experiments, games, stories, ideas for making, etc.) for their own teaching activities.
