Abstract
The publication deals with the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education and learning. The introduction briefly describes the history and development of ICT in the context of learning and education. Subsequently, he deals with the concept of Industry 4.0 and digitization and works with these phenomena in the field of education, where he explains the new paradigm of Education 4.0, a functional model of education in a lifelong context.
In the following chapters, it presents the possibilities and trends of ICT education, including Massive Open On-line Courses (MOOCs), cloud LMS (cloud learning management systems), gamification, personalized learning, microlearning and microcourses, online seminars (webinars, video seminars, mobile seminars), online conferences (videoconferences, webconferences, mobile conferences), social networks, online cooperation (chat, project sharing, instant commenting), mobile learning, virtual reality, augmented reality, online courses, schools, universities (all forms of distance learning, public online academies (Khan Academy), online encyclopedias, libraries, documents (wikipedia, Google books, Google photos), computer games in education and video lectures.
It discusses in detail the didactic process and didactic methods in the use of information technologies. It points to the invariance of the didactic process as a fundamental dynamic interaction between the educator and the learning subject, in which the content of the curriculum is taught using didactic methods, including the use of ICT. It analyzes two didactic methods - virtual co-teaching and inverted classroom, on which it demonstrates the suitability of using and involving ICT. Within the chapter of virtual co-teaching, it acquaints the reader with previous research and its results. Lifelong learning using ICT is the subject of the next part, where the publication highlights the importance of online learning and applications in lifelong formal, non-formal and informal learning.
Examples of good practice in the use of ICT in education are presented in the fields of programming, mathematics, geography, biology, video production, animation and robotics. Individual examples are set in didactic frameworks and equipped with practical instructions on how teaching should look like, what ICT resources should be used and how pupils or students should be motivated. It also emphasizes overlaps in individual teaching areas into other disciplines.
The publication presents the latest research results on distance learning and online teaching. It summarizes these results and draws possible conclusions about the effectiveness of online education. It also takes into account the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the development of online platforms. It summarizes the shortcomings and virtues of these forms of learning and education. In conclusion, the publication deals with cybersecurity and data protection. It also does not neglect the new Personal Data Protection Regulation - GDPR and briefly summarizes its foundations.
