Unfinished strategies for solving word problems as a tool for developing pupils' metacognition

Abstract

The article presents a new type of task that arises in the TAČR project. One goal of the tasks is to develop students' metacognitive strategies.

The second goal is to develop their reading and language literacy. Deficiencies in this literacy are often an obstacle to successfully solving a word problem.

The new type of tasks is illustrated with one specific word task and a proposal for its implementation.
