Language is a repository and a means of transferring a person's knowledge about the surrounding reality, which form his picture of the world and are fixed in memory. Thanks to the reproduction of past experience, a native speaker, receiving information, draws analogies between familiar and unfamiliar objects or situations, thereby expanding the boundaries of ideas about the world.
The collective monograph "Język i pamięć", the purpose of which is a comprehensive consideration of the issues of reflection of memory in the mirror of language, is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the professor of Opole University Wojciech Michał Chlebda, a member of the Phraseological Commission at the International Committee of Slavists, who made a huge contribution to the development of ethnolinguistics, sociolinguistics, lexicology, phraseology, phraseography and translation studies.
